The freedom of the moors awaits you at Draughton...

You can follow in the footsteps of the legions with a quiet canter along the Roman road, enjoying the cries of the curlew and lapwing, or watching the antics of the hares.

Alternatively, the shorter 'bench' ride or the longer hour and a half hack in the 'gallop' field, where both horse and rider can enjoy the exhilaration of an open stretch of land that positively invites those who are not faint-hearted to give the horse its head.

If you like to spend longer in the saddle, the route around Bolton Abbey is not to be missed. Five hours, with a break for tea at the abbey, will allow the more experienced rider to enjoy a mixture of woods, fields and open moor land, with plenty of opportunity to canter and gallop.

These rides can be enjoyed throughout the changing seasons, and with the majority of the routes being linked by quiet roads, riders of all abilities are able to enjoy the peace and quiet of what is a beautiful part of the English countryside.
